Cameron's Story

Cameron decided to sign up for the Princes Trust programme after his carer advised him to look into it. He found it difficult to find the courage to sign up initially however now he can confidently say he is glad he did.

Cameron’s team are working on a community project that involves creating a reading corner for a local primary school, something that the Headmistress is very keen on.  They are planning to paint a mural and provide seating and are aiming to raise around £200 though fundraising activities such as a raffle.  His favourite part of the programme so far has however been the residential, where he was ‘thrown in at the deep end’ as he was not used to meeting so many new people and also had to face his fear of heights.

For Cameron, the best moment so far has been when the whole group became a family, making him feel like it was part of a group and giving him the confidence to get know new people. Overcoming anxieties, gaining confidence and learning to get on with things was what Cameron felt he was getting from the programme.

Looking forward, Cameron is looking forward to getting a job and creating a good work/life balance to continue doing all the activities he enjoys. Gaining work experience is now the next part of the programme that he is looking forward to, it’s something that he doesn’t have very much confidence in doing himself and really appreciates the help of his team leaders.
