Henry’s Story

Henry came to the YES programme in July 2020. At the time, Henry lacked confidence whilst also suffering from anxiety and depression.

Henry lived at home with his family and spent a lot of time with his friends. Unfortunately, neither his family or friends were very encouraging towards Henry and did not support him to find education, employment or training.

It was clear Henry needed immediate support and encouragement from YES. We developed an excellent rapport and Henry opened up about his mental health condition. We agreed to refer him to a local mental health service for additional support.

With some encouragement and further support, Henry was in a position to start his journey into employment. We communicated regularly through phone appointments to help develop his confidence, and we worked together to complete a CSCS Card application form.

With consistent encouragement, Henry was able to complete the course and has secured his own CSCS Card. Henry has had a tough year but has managed to push himself and is now in a position to start applying for jobs. Going forwards, YES will continue to support Henry into full-time employment.

Henry said: “YES encouraged me to be the best person I can. I was quite low this time last year, now I feel like a job’s just around the corner.”
