Jade is an amazing young lady who is 18 years of age. When she came to see the National Careers Service she wouldn’t even take her hat off and was very anxious, especially about being around others. Jade told us that she did not often come out of the house due to her anxieties – coming to visit us was such a huge step for her.
I saw Jade’s confidence grow amazingly over the days she spent with us studying the Employability Course. Jade attended a Careers Workshop as part of a group, which I was running. This helped her to move towards a one-to-one session with me and I began to see her confidence grow – so much so that Jade took her hat off!
Jade has always wanted to be a Zoo Keeper but was unsure how to get into this role. She had achieved her Level 2 in Animal Science but felt, due to some negative experiences at college, she could not return to study further.
Jade’s confidence has grown so much since coming to see the National Careers Service and benefitting from our careers advice, guidance and workshops. She now believes in herself and is confidently applying for apprenticeships and considering volunteering roles in the animal sector.
Jade said: “I’m now doing some more courses and I feel so much more confident about finding future employment.”
