Kirstie’s Story

I first came to meet with Stephen, my National Careers Service adviser, at the Ramsgate job centre because I was struggling – I was on my own, living on Universal Credit and trying to provide for my young daughter. Although I’m a fully qualified registered Nurse and have always worked to provide for myself and my daughter, a combination of my long nursing hours, fleeing domestic abuse and the bereavement of my brother had affected my daughter emotionally. I had taken time out of work to focus on supporting my daughter, and my Life Coaching training.
Stephen and I spoke about updating my CV so I could find work that fitted in my daughter’s school hours. I’d have done anything; I felt so desperate to bring in extra money because I was on my knees financially, and so low at this time.
I also explained to Stephen about my work as a Hospice Nurse, my Life Coach training and my passion to work with young vulnerable people. I’m passionate about helping them learn better ways to manage overwhelming emotions, no matter what their circumstances are right now. I believe every person can learn to manage and take back control of their own life and emotions, and I am so passionate about preventing as much suffering as possible.

“Every person can learn to manage and take back control of their own life “

Stephen helped me to focus on what I really wanted to do and believed in me on that first day I met with him. Even though I am a positive person who has overcome many life experiences, I was at a time when I felt low in myself and felt stuck. Stephen helped me to move forward in the direction that I wanted to go, with what I wanted to achieve in my career and my passion!
With Stephen’s support I was able to update my CV and create my own coaching leaflet about working with and coaching young vulnerable people. He also helped me to find work experience, which I absolutely love and as a result I was offered my dream job – something I have worked so hard towards!

“This is something I have dreamed of”

As a result of Stephen’s guidance and support not only am I more financially stable, I am doing what I love and what I am so passionate about. I am working with some of the most incredible people, learning something new every day and it all fits in around my daughter. This is something I have dreamed of and worked so hard for the last couple of years and I can’t thank Stephen enough for his support.
