I am currently in prison and had been feeling lost about my future. I didn’t know what to do or where to start. That’s when I started working with CXK’s a careers information, advice, and guidance service. I completed a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) with my CXK adviser, Alison. My initial goal was to get into construction as a supervisor. However, after talking with Alison and looking through the available courses, I realised I could aim higher and study to become a project manager.
I decided to apply for a Level 2 Risk Assessment course and completed it. Then, I went on to apply for and complete a Level 3 Project Fundamentals course.
With Alison’s help, I also got funding to do a five-day SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) course in Kensington. All of this was possible because Alison was so supportive and helpful.
“Seeing CXK is the best thing I have done since being in prison.”
Now, I have a much clearer idea of where I’m heading and how to get there. My goal has exceeded far beyond what I originally expected. I feel more confident about my future, both for myself and my family.
CXK went above and beyond in helping me fill out applications for funding and giving me the confidence to achieve my goals. Seeing CXK is the best thing I have done since being in prison. With all of Alison’s help, my future is looking brighter.
