Grace's Story

Grace took part in the 2015 programme and first heard about NCS through an assembly at her school, she chose to take part in the programme because it looked like a lot of fun and was interested in taking part in new experiences.

Grace’s self-confidence improved dramatically as this was something she really struggled with before, and her new found team working skills will help her in the future, particularly when it comes to work and employability.

Having the opportunity to try new things and meet new people was one of the best things that Grace took from the programme, as well as overcoming her fear of heights which was very rewarding.

For their social action project Grace’s team raised money to buy food and facilities for homeless people through a range of different activities including sponsored walks and cake sales. Learning more about her community has been a life changing experience for Grace, she is still very much involved in community and charity work and hopes to continue do so in the future.

When asked what she would say to anyone thinking of joining the programme she said: “Do it, it’s so rewarding and you gain so much from the experience”.
