Kathryn first heard about the Princes Trust through a previous team leader, it sounded like a really interesting programme and she was really interested in taking part in the residential. Throughout the programme she gained self-confidence, something that will help her in job interviews and talking to new people. Kathryn also learned the importance of being punctual as she found turning up every day and on time a challenge at first.
Kathryn wanted to know whether she would be well suited to office work so her work experience placements were at KCC in Maidstone and Scope in Dartford which gave her a really useful insight. The community project Kathryn chose to take part in was the Temple Hall Baptist Church and Allotments, where the disabled community occupying the hall need the hall refurbishing and allotments sorting. The project was very rewarding as she could see the impact it had on the local community, the hall gave the disabled people somewhere nice to go every day.
The Princes Trust programme really helped to change Kathryn’s life for the better as it gave her confidence, it also made her realise she has potential to do good for herself and others. She would tell anyone thinking of joining a Princes Trust programme to join, make the most of it and enjoy it.
