Asda Donates to CXK Kickstart Fund

Tuesday 28th April 2015

Asda in Canterbury today presented a cheque for £50.00 to CXK as part of their Kickstart initiative to help young people, by giving them the opportunity to progress without meeting financial barriers.

This money was raised through their customers’ choice of charity, as part of their Community Life initiative.  During January and February, CXK were one of the three charities which customers could select in store to receive funding.  The Community Life initiative, which was launched in 2012, is designed to help make the local communities better places to live and work.

Commenting on this Adam Faria, the Community Life Champion for the Canterbury store, said “Asda has always looked to support the communities that it serves.  The work CXK does with young people to help them achieve their goals is fundamental and well-deserving of our support.  We are proud to think that we have helped a young person take that all important first step into the world of work or education.”

The Kickstart fund was established in 2014 from an initial idea by a CXK employee.  To date, it has raised approximately £1,000.00 and helped numerous young people with basics such as text books, travel to interviews, and help with application forms.
