CXK, Suez and Surrey County Council launch ‘Upcycle Your Skills’ to support unemployed young people in Surrey

Young people in Surrey are set to gain renewed confidence and clearer pathways into work through Upcycle Your Skills, a new employability programme delivered by SUEZ and CXK in partnership with Surrey County Council.

Designed for young people aged 16–25 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), the programme will help participants build essential employability skills, boost confidence, and connect with local job, education and training opportunities.

Launching in Epsom in March 2026, Upcycle Your Skills combines personalised one-to-one support with interactive group sessions. Initial goal-setting appointments with a dedicated CXK mentor will take place on 10 and 12 March, followed by a five-week programme of workshops covering key topics such as teamwork and communication, CV writing, interview preparation, and exploring local employment, education and training opportunities.

Crucially, SUEZ will offer participants the opportunity to interview for live vacancies, providing a direct and tangible route into employment.

Mike Garfield, Head of Commercial at SUEZ, said:

“We’re delighted to support our local community through the Surrey Upcycle Your Skills programme. Our experience of working together on previous initiatives has shown the real difference these programmes can make, and we’re excited to see the positive impact this project will have for those taking part.”

Lizzie Gregory, Programme Manager at CXK, added:

“Too many young people in Surrey face significant challenges when they are out of education, employment or training – from low confidence to limited work experience and difficulty accessing opportunities. Programmes like Upcycle Your Skills are vital. By offering tailored employability support alongside direct access to employers, we can help young people build the confidence, skills and momentum they need to move forward.”

Surrey residents aged 16–25 who are looking to build their skills, improve their confidence and take their next step towards employment are encouraged to apply.
