Dartford Prince's Trust Team Celebrate

Wednesday 13th July 2016

Young people from the Dartford Prince’s Trust Team programme celebrated the completion of their programme on Tuesday evening.

The nine young people spoke confidently about the impact that the programme had had on them, their next steps and the work they had completed in the community.  Their project involved the renovation of the garden at the YMCA centre in Dartford, which when they started was overgrown with weeds, the fences in need of a paint and the grass at ankle length.  Through various fundraising initiatives – including a sponsored walk, car wash and quiz night – they raised £385.00 and used this money to buy plants and equipment.  In total the project took 10 days and, by the end, there was a garden which the residents of the YMCA would be able to use.

The team also collected food for a local food-bank, organised a tea party for a charity that works with the elderly and hosted a video games evening for young people.

Out of the nine young people, five are progressing on to college courses in September, one is joining the Elevate study programme and one has secured a job.
