Free Support & Training for Employers & Employees during COVID 19

15th May 2020

National Careers Service Offices and AdvisersThe National Careers Service is offering free support to employers and their employees across the South East during the furlough period. Support includes the training and development of furloughed staff and the analysis of organisation training needs. Redundancy support is also offered.

The National Careers Service provides free, professional impartial advice and guidance on training, work and the labour market. Whilst face-to-face delivery is currently on hold, services can be delivered online and over the telephone.

Training and Development for Furloughed Staff

Support is available for furloughed staff, who may benefit from guidance on how they can continue their learning and training online. Information, advice and guidance on skill-set evaluation and training opportunities can be accessed by every individual by calling the helpline on 0800 100 900. Individuals can then work with a dedicated adviser to explore a huge range of free courses to expand their digital and numeracy skills.

Training Needs Analysis

The National Careers Service can execute a Training Needs Analysis for organisations, to identify the training needs of its workforce. Training can be provided to support staff in working effectively from home or returning to work; to boost confidence and morale; and to ensure that the workforce is skilled to meet the existing and future needs of the business.

Examples of training include:

  • Specific COVID-19 health and safety training
  • Mindfulness and Mental Wellbeing
  • Resilience
  • Working from Home Effectively
  • Utilising technology to support working from home

Redundancy Support

The dedicated team of National Careers Service advisers can also work with employers to support the redundancy process. This team tailors the National Careers Service offer to suit the organisation’s requirements, supporting staff to develop their transferable skills and find alternative employment.

Advisers are exceptionally placed to empower and support individuals to identify the right learning opportunities and to plan the next steps in their careers.  Best of all – it’s free.

Individuals can access the service by calling 0800 100 900. If you are an organisation wanting to discuss organising support for your employees, please contact Rachel Waller on 01233 224244 or email nationalcareers@cxk.org.
