Prince's Trust Team Programme Returns To Folkestone

Wednesday 23rd March 2016

A national programme, which helps young people develop their self-confidence and gain new skills, will be returning to Folkestone following a break of nearly two years.

The Team programme, which will be run by CXK on behalf of the Prince’s Trust, is a twelve week course for people between the ages of 16-25 who are not currently in education, employment or training.  It comprises seven modules, including a week long residential, community project and work placement, as well as a nationally recognised qualification.

For their community project, the participants on the last programme supported a centre which provides day care for people aged 17-85. They provided various craft opportunities, day trips and cleaned the outside space.  This included creating raised beds, painting a feature wall and creating storage areas for tools and pots.

Since 2014, 28 young people from the Folkestone area have completed this programme, mainly by accessing it in the surrounding areas of Dover and Ashford.  These young people have progressed into either college courses, apprenticeships or into employment within the retail and horticultural sectors.   Recognising the need for Folkestone to have its own programme, CXK will be delivering the programme out of the Folkestone Business Hub from 18th April.
