Virtual Jobs Fair Returns to South East on 8th October

The National Careers Service Virtual Jobs Fair returns this week, promoting local job, apprenticeship and volunteering opportunities.

To ensure people are receiving crucial careers support, the National Careers Service is working to bring job seekers and employers closer together by advertising vacancies across social media. The Virtual Jobs Fair will virtually visit nine different regions of England throughout the week and give employers in those regions a chance to advertise current opportunities.

In the South East, the virtual jobs fair will run from 1:00-4:00pm on Thursday 8^th October and people in the area can view hundreds of job opportunities by visiting the National Careers Service South East Twitter page during the event, or by searching #VirtualJobsFair and #SouthEastJobs.

The National Careers Service South East will also be running live webinars throughout the afternoon.

Effective Job Searching – 1:00pm-2:30pm

The National Careers Service talks you through the different tools and techniques you can employ to find a job. This 90 minute, live workshop includes:

• An overview of the National Careers Service
• How to write an effective CV – the pitfalls to avoid, and the techniques you can use to stand out above the competition.
• Effective job searching tools and techniques
• Interview techniques, including how to manage a virtual interview

Transferable Skills – 2:30pm-4:00pm

A webinar for career changers wanting to know how to identify and then transfer their skills to a different sector. Join our professional careers advisers to explore:

• How to effectively transfer skills from home, voluntary work, and hobbies and interests into the workplace.
• A look at labour market information and growth industry
• How to interpret a job description in the best way
• How to match a job description to your skillset.
