The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
Making It Count is a dedicated numeracy programme designed to empower individuals with foundational mathematical skills and confidence. This programme is open to anyone who has not yet achieved a Level 2 qualification in maths, offering a transformative learning experience in 12 hours over three consecutive days.
This course is currently delivered in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone, Maidstone, Sheerness and online.
The programme provides a flexible and engaging learning environment where participants can delve into various numeracy activities, such as budgeting, calculating fuel consumption, and understanding payslips. These activities are complemented by sessions focusing on personal development and career exploration, empowering participants to identify their next steps with confidence.
CXK is currently offering a £20 high street voucher for every completion of a three day course.
Taster Sessions:
Potential participants are invited to an engaging 2-hour taster session held in a community setting. These sessions introduce Making It Count! and highlight the significance of numeracy in personal and professional development, addressing any fears they have through some simple, fun activities that make numeracy relevant and accessible.
Numeracy Programme:
Spread over three 4-hour sessions, Making It Count! covers a range of topics, including understanding the importance of numbers, budgeting, and exploring career options.
Career Support:
All participants will also be offered an opportunity to meet with a qualified National Careers Service adviser who will provide impartial careers information, advice and guidance, including skills assessments, exploring career options using up to date local labour market information, information about apprenticeships and training courses, CV development and supported job search activities.
Support and Referrals:
Recognising the diverse needs of participants, Making It Count! offers referrals to additional support services as required, ensuring they receive tailored support to overcome barriers to progression.
