Key Information

YES is a free service that offers teenage career advice, support and guidance to young people in the East Sussex area. Commissioned by East Sussex County Council, we work specifically with young people aged 16-18 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET), or are at risk of being NEET.

Our advisers work with young people on a 1:1 basis and offer support and guidance specific to individual needs.

We support young people to plan their next steps and help them progress further with their choices, exploring:

  • College Options
  • Other training opportunities
  • Apprenticeships
  • Work experience
  • Employment and job searching
  • Completing application forms
  • Practicing interview skills
  • Creating or updating a CV

We are delighted to announce that we are now offering face to face appointments again however, due to the success of our virtual appointments during lockdown, we will continue to offer telephone and video calls as an option to get the support you need. YES will continue to work in line with the government guidelines to ensure both young people and staff are safe which includes risk assessed venues. Any changes to our delivery in light of further government guidance will be updated on our website. Please check back here.

Who we work with

We work with many other organisations and education providers to provide the best support to every young person we work with.

Within our organisation, we also have specialist advisers who co-locate with various teams such as:

  • Youth Justice Service (YJS)
  • Through Care Team (LAC)
  • Special Educational Needs Disabilities (iSEND)
  • Assessment and Planning Team (EHCP)

This means that we can support young people who may be facing issues that are a barrier to moving forward positively with their lives. This could be due to mental health, those who may not be able to live with their family and those that may not have had a good time at school.

We also offer support to young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
