Key Information

If you’re unemployed and aged between 16 and 25, you can meet new people, gain new skills and take a qualification on Team, our 12 week personal development programme.

Week 1: Team Induction

Meet the rest of your team, get to know each other and start planning for the weeks ahead. Set your goals and objectives and plan your journey.

Week 2: Team Building Residential

Spend the week away with your team trying doing adrenaline-fuelled, fun activities like canoeing, climbing, raft-building and much more. Work on your resilience, team building and social skills.

Weeks 3-6: Community Project

As a team, you’ll plan and deliver a project to benefit your local community. This will give you fantastic experience to add to your CV and talk about at interviews.

Weeks 7-8: Work Placements

You get to take part in a two week work placement in a career or company you’re interested in. This is your opportunity to see how the skills you’ve built so far can be used in a work environment.

Week 9: Planning for the Future

Get help to write an outstanding CV, practice your interview skills and learn how to find job opportunities and apply for them.

Weeks 10-11: Supporting Others

Your team will take on a second challenge to help others in the community, once again using all of the skills you’ve developed. Benefit a cause that matters to you and give something back.

Week 12: Celebration Event

In your final week, your Team will host your own celebration event. Together you’ll deliver a presentation about your experiences, giving you the chance to demonstrate how far you’ve come and the talents you’ve developed.


The programme will help you move forwards with your life. During the programme you will:

  • Benefit from passionate and professional staff who’ll provide you with mentoring support throughout.
  • Develop work-related skills including: communication, teamwork, setting and achieving goals, managing feelings, confidence, reliability, job searching, and leadership.
  • Get the opportunity to thrive and gain new experiences.
  • Uncover your hidden talents and improve your confidence.
  • Build social skills and meet new people.
  • Achieve nationally recognised employability qualifications.
  • Get two weeks’ work experience in something you’re interested in.
  • Develop your Maths and English skills.
  • Enjoy team-building activities, including a week at a residential activity centre.
  • Take on your own group community project, making a positive difference to the place where you live.
  • Enhance your CV; benefit from mock interviews with employers; and develop your job searching skills with additional careers advice provided my professionals such as the National Careers Service

The programme is completely free of charge and won’t affect your Jobseeker’s Allowance or Universal Credit. Travel to the programme will be paid for if you’re eligible and you may also be entitled to meals and bursary payments.
